ESG at Maintel: our sustainable business journey

Help us to help you on your sustainable journey

Maintel cares – through our commitments and actions with our employees, customers, stakeholders, and wider communities we’re all making a difference in long-term sustainability

Creating a more sustainable future

We’re here so that our people become trusted advisors of your people to create value and make it easier, more cost-effective and sustainable to consume technology.

We believe in transparency and understand how important it is to our stakeholders that we continually improve our long-term sustainable business journey and help our customers improve theirs.

We have committed to science-based targets aligned with 1.5°C

No matter what we’re passionate about, something we care about will be affected by climate change.

That is why Maintel has committed to set science-based targets that align with what science says is necessary to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Priority focus areas and SDG Contributions

We’ve aligned our journey to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. There are many goals that we contribute to and are continuing to improve. The ones that we have identified as material to our business are as follows:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education
  • SDG 5 – Gender Equality
  • SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth,
  • SDG 9 – Industry Innovation and Infrastructure
  • SDG 13 – Climate Action
  • SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

The graph displays our target contribution and progress towards positive SDG impact.

Solid area = our contribution

Lightly shaded areas = our target contribution

We measure our progress against defined metrics through the official
World Wide Generation G17Eco tracker.

Maintel and finnCap

At Maintel we use the finnCap ESG scorecard to bring together company ESG information in an easily understandable format and utilise the output to prepare targets, initiate activities, introduce product and service developments and link our achievements to the UN global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Discover how you can make your ESG reporting simpler by downloading finnCap’s guide.

Committed to environmental transparency

Maintel discloses its climate change impacts through CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), a global non-profit that runs the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform. CDP drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. Over 13,000 companies with over 64% of global market capitalization disclosed environmental data through CDP in 2021. This is in addition to the over 1,100 cities, states and regions who disclosed, making CDP’s platform one of the richest sources of information globally on how companies and governments are driving environmental change.

2021 Maintel Sustainable Business Report

Being transparent about our achievements, where we need to improve and regularly reporting are important aspects of our overall sustainable business program success and enables us to build trust with our stakeholders and wider communities. With that in mind, our first Sustainable Business Report is available now.

Our ESG highlights

Trees for cloud seats and Maintel's recycling efforts

At Maintel we believe in giving something back and at no cost to our customers. We are planting 25 trees for every 500 cloud seats ordered and enabled through us. Our customers receive a thank you certificate for helping to grow the Maintel Forest and become part of our sustainable business efforts. We also include the number of trees we save through our company recycling initiatives. A tree can absorb approximately one tonne of CO2 in its lifetime and to be a forest we need at least 6,000 trees. Why not become part of Maintel’s growing forest by moving to the cloud today?
