Avaya completes sale of Avaya Networking to Extreme Networks
On July 7th, Extreme Networks announced the execution of an asset purchase agreement with Avaya to acquire its networking business. This is part of Avaya’s Chapter 11 process we wrote to you about earlier this year, enabling Avaya to restructure its debt profile.
This exciting move is set to strengthen both Avaya’s voice and data businesses with a cash injection of capital of around US$100m. Avaya Network revenues of around US$200m p.a., meanwhile, will see Extreme rise to number three in the enterprise networking market, leaving the company well positioned for sustained future growth.
What will happen next?
Extreme Networks has a strong vision of continued development of Avaya Networking’s core technologies and supporting existing products for the remainder of their natural life, while offering a clear path for the evolution of the Avaya Networking portfolio:
“Avaya customers and partners will be supported by Extreme’s award winning customer service and have access to Extreme’s integrated solutions portfolio for the campus enterprise. Extreme’s single pane of glass network management, analytics, and control platforms plan to be expanded to support Avaya’s switching portfolio and will deliver unified visibility and control from the data center through the core, access layer and access point to the end user device.”
How does this affect my business?
Extreme Networks plans to move key personnel supporting the Avaya Networking business over as full-time employees across the next month or so. This will help ensure that the transaction is completed smoothly and ensure all customer operations and installations remain unaffected.
